If you're a fan of gathering tiny treasures from your daily adventures and nature walks—delicate leaves, tiny wildflowers, or other beautiful finds—the Pocket Flower Press is a delightful, pocket-sized addition to your toolkit. Whether you're exploring a nearby green space or just walking around your neighborhood, this compact press makes it easy to preserve those awesome little pieces of nature for future creative projects.
How to Use the Pocket Flower Press
Collect Your Treasures: Choose tiny flowers, leaves, or petals that catch your eye. You may ask a few questions:
1. Who are you? A confident plant identification is essential to be sure handling the plant will not cause harm to you.
2. Can I pick you? Consider whether you have permission to pick from the plant, the land, or people connected to the land. For example, If I see that a bee is gathering pollen on a flower in front of my house, a plant that is not abundant growing abundantly on the side of the road, or something abundant but in a finely manicured park, I take these as signs that say, "No not this plant," or "Come again another time. Today is not the day for this nature treasure to be collected."
3. Are you the right fit? Ideal plant treasures are not too thick and not too big for the press.
Place in. the Press: Remove the rubbed band from the press. Open to a place blotter paper sheets. Position and sandwich your plant treasure between the two sheets and place back in the stack. Replace the cover and secure the rubber band around the stack and covers.
Let Time Do the Work: Nature’s magic happens slowly! Leave your treasure in the press for a few days (or weeks), allowing it to fully dry and flatten.
Once your flowers are ready, you’ll have beautifully preserved pieces to add to your nature adventure archives or art projects.
Get Creative with Your Pressed Flowers
Pressed botanicals aren’t just for collecting—they’re for creating! Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
